Members bring to the service a small amount of water from a place that is special to them.  (If you were not able to collect water from that special place, you can use ordinary tap water as a stand-in.)  During the appointed time in the service, people one by one pour their water together into a large bowl. As the water is added, the person who brought it tells why this water is special to them. The combined water is symbolic of our shared faith coming from many different sources.

Next Sunday's program, "The Unitarian Faith," will be presented by Marolen Mullinax.  She will explore the question, "Can a church founded on individual freedom of belief still possess a common faith?"  Come and ponder with her, and then during Talk Back, share your ideas.

If you like to donate to the Fellowship in the form of supplies, choose environmentally friendly products.  Clorox now makes "Green Works" cleaning products.  White Cloud Green Earth toilet paper is available at Wal-Mart.  Target has the Method line of cleaners and soaps.  Drug Emporium sells some 7th Generation products.  And Amanda does a group order through Frontier that allows you to buy at a discount.

 

Think FAIR TRADE.

Our Fellowship is now serving fair trade coffee!  That means we buy it from a wholesaler who pays the small farmer a fair market price for organically grown coffee beans.  If you would like to donate to the coffee fund, just make sure you indicate that in the memo line on your check.

NTAUUS JUNE TRIP REPORT:

Here is my trip report for 06/15/08

1. A nominating Committee was established to submit a slate of nominees to fill the 08/09 NTAUUS officers. Ann Smith the current secretary will chair the committee.

2. Hoyt West, ask the board if he would be able to work within the confines of the NTAUUS social action net work to pursue raising the awareness of the need for Universal Health Care.  He referred to the fact that many social activist were UUs, and because of heir positions they brought recognition to their churches / fellowships. Hoyt is currently the head of a statewide organization working toward this goal.   He stated that he is willing to come to each society and present his views and answer questions. His bottom line is getting UUs to focus on one project and hopefully getting as many Fellowships / Churches as possible to focus on Universal Health Care.

3. The advertisement champagne has been put in place for the Dallas papers.  I asked about the advertisement for the remote locations.  There was some resistance by Daniel Polk to doing the remote areas.  His concern was that it was difficult working with the remote papers, and he hadn’t gotten any feed back from the last effort to do this.  However it was decided that we could have three or four weeks of NTAUUS paid advertisement.  I committed that we would have someone get with Daniel and work out the details. He can be reached danieldale@worldnet.att.net  Ruth I think this would be more in your area than any one else.

4. A vote was taken on providing financial support for UUs participation this years Gay Pride parade. Scheduled for September 21^st.  They plan on using the “T” shirt we purchased last year.  I have a flyer that I will post at the Fellowship, Sunday.

5. I brought up the topic of using AUDIO conferencing as a means of getting more of the remote people involved.  Mike stated that this had been tried before, in a much greater sense.  However my proposal to use an audio bridge was never tried and the cost would be small.  The board was in flavor of checking into the possibility of using a voice bridge.  Since no one was assigned I will follow-up and checks out the feasibility of implementation.
