Treasurer: Jay Noble
Secretary: Ellen Herbert
Also present were members and friends, Sky Mitchell, Huey Mitchell, Betty Golding and Bob Winters.
The minutes were reviewed. Jessica moved to accept the minutes as submitted and Huey seconded. The minutes were unanimously accepted. There was discussion about future postings of the minutes online and it was decided that they will reflect whether or not they have been approved.
Treasurer’s Report:
Jay presented the September financial report.
There was discussion about membership dues which are $15 per member to SW District and $50 per member to the National UU Organization. We have been billed for last year’s count of 32 members and that bill may be paid at any time during the year. It is time to consider preparing our membership report for 2004 which will determine our bills for dues in the coming year. Article III in our bylaws states that any member who does not participate in the fellowship and contribute toward the $65 cost of membership shall be removed from the membership list to the friends list. Discussion followed in which the board agreed that precious contributions are made to the fellowship that are not in the form of money and that lack of participation should be our guiding factor in updating our membership. At this time three members have moved away from Longview and will be placed on the friends list. They are George Leonberger, Donna Witt, and Donna McCann. Josh and Shauna Spear have not been active in over one year and will be contacted about moving to the UUF friends list.
Sky presented a new financial report form that she feels reports the opportunity fund in a more realistic way.
Erika reported programs for October:
October 3 The Roots of the Wisdom Path: Universal Images, Lynn C Bauman Ph.D.
October 10 GLBT Panel
October 17 The Violent Imposition of Intolerant Monotheism, Jack Cargill, Ph.D.
October 24 El Dia De Los Muertos, Ruth Semrau
October 31 The Irony of the Death Penalty
Newsletter Report: No News
Old Business: Erica reported that the idea of a second service is a no-go at this time.
The Fellowship is in need of discussion at-large about meeting our needs for a larger space. A congregational meeting for Sunday, September 19th will be announced in today’s service for the purpose of this discussion.
New Business:
No New Business.
Frank adjourned the meeting at 10:57
Respectfully submitted,
Ellen Herbert, Secretary
